PLA is the best choice for most decorative items, and here’s why. It comes in dozens of colours, including special finishes: matte, glossy, glitter, translucent, silk, marble and wood effects. PLA gives a smooth surface with barely visible layer lines and is easy to post-process — to sand and paint. On top of that, PLA is biodegradable, which matters to eco-conscious buyers.

For items that will be in contact with water (vases, planters) we recommend PETG — it’s more water-resistant and doesn’t degrade with constant contact with moisture. PETG is also the one to choose for items that will stand on a windowsill in direct sunlight — it’s much more resistant to UV and higher temperatures.
